Gibside National Trust

Gibside Near Rowlands Gill, Gateshead, NE16 6BG is situated close to the border between Northumberland and Co. Durham. It is a large National Trust property. Tucked away within Gibside estate you can discover nature and calm surroundings. Enjoy a stroll through Ice House Dene and along the banks of the River Derwent. Meet Gibside’s oldest tree, and look out for signs of spring and wildlife such as woodpeckers, red kites, ducks and deer, as you immerse yourself in nature. There are extensive and well defined trails in open country and woodland. Gibside has two Trampers available for use. The site has accessible toilets and parking. Wallington National Trust

Wallington, Cambo, Neaqr Morpeth, NE61 4AR. The HeritageTree trail will take you past some of the most impressive and unusual trees planted in the East Wood over the past 300 years. Wallington has trees from around the world, while other trees are native species. The Wannie Line walk will take you onto both the Wannie and Rothbury railway lines. Trains once steamed along these two lines, but now nature and wildlife have taken them over. If you fancy a good leg stretch, you can walk across open moorland and around the shores of Fontburn Reservoir on the Greenleighton Moor walk.
